Dementia residents benefit from mobility aids at centre

7th January 2014

A new state-of-the-art care centre has opened in Greenwich, providing its residents with the freedom to move thanks to a walk in shower and other mobility devices. The care home has been opened by dementia specialists Avante Care and Support and looks to provide a safe and comfortable environment for its residents at Puddingstone Grange care home in Plumstead, Greenwich.

As a new care centre for the company, every effort has gone into ensuring its residents have the best facilities for their needs where users of modern stair lifts can feel comfortable and access everything they need without being limited by mobility issues. The home has been developed under an investment from Barclays Bank PLC, who have had a long business relationship with Avante and support their mission to create a first-class dementia care facility.

The specialist dementia care home helps its residents to continue to live fulfilled lives with the help of a number of devices including accessible walk in baths and showers in a specially designed room with chair assist. The facilities are said to compliment the dedicated care and understanding provided by the care centre as they work towards providing a full and happy lifestyle for their residents.

Alongside the much-needed walk in chair assisted shower room, the home also includes a relaxation therapy room, a hair and beauty salon and landscaped gardens. All these features work towards making the care centre as welcoming as possible and look to reassure residents who are no longer able to live at home with the aid of home-use stair lifts and walk in showers, having to rely on full time care instead.

The building’s design makes use of a central communal area in which residents can enjoy a sense of community whilst benefitting from the mobility technology installed as part of the building’s structure to make everyday tasks as simple as possible.
