How A Stairlift Can Help You

One of the most frustrating consequences of living with reduced mobility is the challenge of the stairs and the potential loss of full use of your home.
Taking the decision to have a stair lift installed can be a big step, however, having a Handicare stairlift installed can often be cheaper and less disruptive than, for example, moving home. With an installation, you can regain the pleasure and freedom of ascending and descending your staircase with ease, making it easier for you to stay in your home for longer.

Why You Should Choose an Age UK Stairlift

From the moment you make contact with an enquiry, right through to any aftercare that is needed, Handicare will be there. Unlike some other suppliers, you won’t find any high-pressure selling or confusing literature. You will only find the excellent level of  service and support that Handicare is known for.
What are the running costs of a stairlift?
The truth is that the bespoke nature of installing the necessary equipment means that the amount new curved and straight stairlifts cost in the UK can vary widely, depending on the amount and complexity of the work required. With this in mind, it can be hard to provide you with an upfront accurate stairlift price, especially if a member of the Handicare team is yet to visit your house. Don’t be put off by this though, as arranging an appointment with one of the advisors is quick and simple.
What if I need stairlift repairs?
Once you have a stairlift installed, it’s likely that it will be used frequently, likely every single day. Because of this, Handicare understands that you will want to feel safe in the knowledge that should you need it, Handicare is on hand to conduct any stairlift servicing that is required.
Do the stairlifts come with a warranty?
All Handicare stairlifts come with 2 years warranty as standard. Once your straight or curved stairlift is installed, if it is not fit for purpose, please let Handicare know within 14 days of the installation date. Handicare may then, at their discretion, carry out additional works or alterations to address the issues raised. If after completion of such works you are not satisfied and still wish to return your stairlift, you should then confirm this to Handicare in writing. On receipt of such notice, Handicare will arrange a full refund.
Handicare and Age UK Trading CIC understand the importance of the quality of life and increased mobility that a stairlift offers. Handicare’s production skills have been combined with Age UK Trading CIC’s own experience, along with feedback from satisfied customers and healthcare professionals to make sure the range of products suits different needs and budgets.

Types of Stairlifts

Staircases come in many different shapes and sizes, and knowing which mobility aid suits your stairs is something which the trained Handicare engineers will be able to offer expert advice on. There are two main types of stairlift: those that can travel up and down straight staircases (these tend to be the most common types of staircases in UK homes). There are also those that can navigate a curve in a staircase.
There are two types of seats available for both product types. Traditional seats and perch seats. Perch seats are suitable for those who find sitting difficult and are also recommended for houses with narrow staircases. Perch seats can be fitted to both curved and straight models.
