Care Awards launch to recognise the work of caregivers in the South West

21st January 2016

Care Focus, the community interest organisation based in the South West, has opened nominations for this year’s awards highlighting outstanding care provision in the independent, public and voluntary sectors.

The Care Awards aim to give credit to those supporting the disabled, elderly and children with exceptional care in the region.

The awards have twelve categories, giving unpaid individuals and professional teams an opportunity to demonstrate their effort in caring for people in the community. Nominations can be for any number of reasons but central to these awards is a mission to highlight truly outstanding care in the South West.

Care providers of all levels of experience are being acknowledged in this year’s Care Awards, with categories ranging from ‘New to Care’ to ‘Excellence in Leadership’ for those who’ve demonstrated unprecedented quality of care in a line management capacity.

Those looking to nominate may choose to put a caregiver forward because they repeatedly help the elderly manage a more independent lifestyle, or because they tirelessly volunteer their time to offer local outreach groups in the area.

As we get older, carrying out our day-to-day activities can become more of a challenge, particularly when our movement isn’t quite what it once was. Fortunately, mobility aids such as stairlifts can help us hold on to our independence where possible. Likewise, having the help of a good care provider allows us to continue to do the things we enjoy in our later years and The Care Awards are a great way to show our appreciation for this.

The Care Awards are open to all involved in paid or unpaid roles falling within care, support, health or housing. Alongside organisations, people can nominate an ‘Outstanding Volunteer’ for an award that thanks those that give their own time to look after a relative or friend.

With only two weeks left until the closing date on February 1st, Care Focus has already received dozens of nominee submissions, sending a positive message as people praise the care they’ve received in the past year.

Determined by an independent panel of judges, finalists will be invited to attend the gala event held at Wellsprings Leisure Centre in Taunton on 22nd April, where the winners will be announced and receive their awards.
