First year of The Big Event to showcase mobility vehicles

26th April 2013

A family friendly event is launching this summer which is sure to appeal to all those who have mobility difficulties. The Big Event will be hosted by Motability during May 2013 and will help those with mobility issues to find out more about a number of viable mobility solutions.

Mobility issues can be solved in the home with such useful devices as stair lifts, riser recliner chairs and specially adapted wet rooms but, when it comes to travelling greater distances, there are a number of extra things to think about.

The Big Event is launching this summer and is being billed as a family-friendly event which will showcase the biggest range of vehicles available on the Motability Scheme in the UK. The show will be running on 17 and 18 May and will kick start a series of regional events across the UK, bringing a wide selection of mobility cars to smaller audiences.

The Big Event is being held at Stoneleigh Park Indoor Exhibition Centre in Warwickshire and will give visitors the chance to see over 80 cars on display that have come from over 20 manufacturers. Over 30 models of scooter and a range of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles will also be on display over the weekend. Both drivers and passengers will be able to test drive a fleet of around 20 adapted and non-adapted cars, with a professional driving instructor on hand to give advice.

Although primarily providing motorists with the opportunity to find a vehicle which is suitable for their needs, there is plenty of fun to be had on the day for all ages. There will be a play area and face painting for children, and free parking and a free hot drink can be enjoyed by all.

After The Big Event in Warwickshire, regional shows will be held in locations around the country:

15 June - One Big Day at Bath and West Showground, Somerset

9 July - One Big Day at Glow, Bluewater, Kent

1 August - One Big Day at Newcastle Racecourse, Northumberland

8 August - One Big Day at Aintree Racecourse, Merseyside

Those who have felt the benefits of installing walk in baths and showers and are now wondering how they could reap similar benefits whilst on the road can find out more information about The Big Event here. All events will open at 9am and finish at 4pm, giving people plenty of opportunity to find a mobility solution that suits them.
