Disabled Facilities Grant helps 500 people in Durham

The Disabled Facilities Grant programme was deemed a success in Durham recently after it emerged that over 500 people benefited from the scheme in the county during 2012-13. The nationwide programme is jointly funded by the government and local county councils, helping adapt the homes of those with mobility difficulties with changes such as widened doors and walk in baths.
More housing for older people needed in the UK

'The Top of the Ladder' study by think-tank Demos highlights the need for more housing to be created that is tailored to the needs of older people.
