  • What are the benefits of an Age Co stairlift?

Our Age Co stairlifts allow you to ascend and descend your staircase with ease - making it possible for you to stay in the home you love and to continue to remain independent. The motor, battery, and gear are three components that ensure they run smoothly. For more information on how stairlifts work, visit our stairlift advice hub.

  • Why choose an Age Co stairlift?

Age Co stairlifts, provided by Handicare, are designed with a focus on reliability, aesthetics, safety, and long-lasting performance. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality equipment with modern innovations, featuring space-saving designs that are built to provide comfort and durability for years to come.

All the new models we sell are fitted with a 'One Touch Alert' feature. With a simple press of a button, you can dial your emergency contacts directly from your stairlift. One Touch Alert connects you with assistance swiftly. This new feature is now available on all Handicare products in the UK and Europe.

  • How much does a stairlift cost?

The price of a curved stairlift or straight stairlift in the UK can vary depending on your staircase dimensions, chosen model, and any additional extras. You can also purchase reconditioned stairlifts, which are models where the motor has been fully refurbished. Therefore, it isn't possible to provide you with an upfront cost. Handicare’s production skills spanning over 130 years, combined with feedback from satisfied customers and healthcare professionals have enabled us to create a range of products to suit different needs and budgets. Read more advice on stairlift prices.

  • Do you offer financing options for stairlifts?

Handicare, who are the manufacturers, do not offer financing options. However, you may be eligible for a grant. You can find advice, including any grants you may be entitled to and helpful information on financing a stairlift in this comprehensive advice guide, including any grants you may be entitled to and helpful information on financing a stairlift. This guide looks at financial assistance such as VAT exemption and getting a stairlift from the council. We are often asked, 'Can I rent a stairlift?' or 'Can I buy a second-hand stairlift? We've put together a guide on renting or hiring a stairlift and buying used or second-hand stairlifts.

  • Which stairlift do I need?

Our trained engineers will be able to offer expert advice on which stairlift is suitable for you. There are two main types of stairlifts - straight or curved. Straight stairlifts can travel up and down straight staircases , while curved stairlifts can navigate a curve in a staircase (such as spiral staircases and stairways that have landings, corners or bends) with ease. Our helpful team are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

  • Which stairlift seat do I need?

A fully-trained engineer will come to your home to assess your staircase and advise you on the type of stairlift you need. When the engineers from Handicare visit your home, they will be able to offer expert advice on which stairlift seat is suitable for you. You can purchase seats in different colours, so you can pick one that fits in with the décor of your home. Many models also have foldaway seats, so that when you are not using a stairlift, they are not taking up much space or affecting other people walking up and down the stairs. With a perch stairlift, there is a perch seat, and these models allow passengers to remain in an almost upright position, which is perfect for people who struggle to get from a seated position to a standing one.

  • How are stairlifts Installed?

The first step in the process is an initial FREE home visit so that an expert can assess your specific needs and, of course, your staircase. The second step is choosing the model for you, including any customisations you wish. The next step is receiving a free, no-obligation stairlift quote. Once you're happy, we'll order your stairlift and arrange for installation and testing. Read about how stairlifts are installed in our detailed advice hub.

  • Who manufactures your stairlifts?

All our stairlifts are manufactured by Handicare. Handicare works with Age Co to provide quality stairlifts at great prices. As Age Co is 100% owned by Age UK, with profits donated to the charity, each purchase of a stairlift supports their vital work.

  • Can you hire a stairlift?

If you are wondering about stairlift rental because you only need one for a short period of time, then you can rent an Age Co stairlift for both a straight and curved model. It could be cost-effective for you to rent an Age Co stairlift for six to 18 months.
